Weddings, Races……We’ve picked our fav dresses for both occasions
Yes to the dress!… Bridal Boutiques you must visit.
It’s been a long time since I’ve mentioned the wedding. We have the majority of our Vendors booked, with just a few things left to sort. We’ve set our date for Feb ’18, so I need to start tying up all our loose ends shortly as time is passing so quickly.
Finding the dress was a long LONG process, I really liked lots of dresses, but I didn’t fall in love in any of them, there was always one thing I wasn’t 100% on, one teeny tiny annoying thing! I was so close so many times with so many different dresses #headmelt
I took ‘breaks’ inbetween my appointments, usually 2 or 3 weeks. I needed thinking time after each appointment, my head was wrecked from the whole thing! And I found the breaks gave me time to internalise each dress, it helped me figure out if that (the dress) was really what I wanted, a few times I went back to see a particular dress and realised it wasn’t the one. That kind of dragged the process out a bit. but I finally said ‘Yes to the Dress’ and when I did, there was zero doubt! Eeeeeek!
For any ladies looking for a wedding dress; out of the shops I visited, here are my favourites:
The White Room, Mullingar:
The girls are fab here, the shop is really beautiful with a large selection of dresses at varying price points. The ladies were so patient, nothing was ever too much. I visited here 3 times, I’m not even joking! But each time the ladies were so accommodating and really took their time with me. With designers like Pronovias, Jesus Peiro and Daalarna, it’s def worth a visit. Jesus Peiro and Daalarna have the most stunning dresses, if you haven’t tried; you need to! Daalarna dresses are really pretty but with a little twist, Jesus Peiro dresses are so simple yet elegant! It is definitely worth the trip for those two designers alone.
Padanee, Carrick on Shannon.
Tricia in Padanee is a doll, with the most GORGEOUS selection of dresses. We’re talking Hailey Paige, Lazaro, it’s very trendy! Again, dresses here are at varying price points, something for everyone. The selection of dresses in Padanee is so good, you have your pretty bridal gowns, but then you have also got beaded, glam, glitzy Art Deco gowns, pink (fab!) gowns and the ‘something different gowns’ . Tricia pours her heart and soul into Padanee and it really shows, she’s a true gem. If you’re looking for top of the range wedding dress styles/choice with someone who will bend over backwards to help you – look no further! Padanee won Xpose Bridal Shop of the Year this year. Easy to see why.
Kathy De Stafford – Nenagh, Howth, Dublin city centre.
With shops in three locations, it’s pretty easy to get to wherever you’re coming from in the country. I paid a visit to the Nenagh store, Louise was my consultant. The service was faultless, Louise really knows her stuff, she was beyond helpful (even when I was being beyond annoying!). What I particularly loved about DeStaffords was that Kathy designs her own range of wedding dresses so you know that (the dress) is not going to be stocked in other bridal boutiques around the country. Her work is exquisite, I tried on a few of her designs, the quality was AMAZING. For anyone interested in custom design, they also do that in house, you’ve so many options and could potentially create your dream dress! DeStaffords stock Pronovias, Kenneth Wilson, Fara Sposa to name just a few. Definitely recommend this bridal store, you will not be disappointed. I promise it is worth the trip.
Serendipity Bridal Boutique, Fivemiletown (about half an hour from Enniskillen)
I love Suzanne Neville dresses, so I just had to take a trip up here, it is such a beautiful store. This boutique is probably smaller than the ones mentioned above but the quality of the dresses is superb. After I had my pick of the dresses, Ruth pulled a few wild cards, she knew exactly what would suit and brought me dresses that I wouldn’t of even considered but they fit me like a glove! A real expert, she knows her stock and brides inside out. Serendipity is also an award winning boutique scooping Best Bridal SHop in 2016. Serendipity stock Justin Alexander, Pronovias, Ronald Joyce, just to name a few. If you want to take advantage of the sterling euro exchange rate, I’d definitiely recommend heading up to Serendipty. The girls are also on snapchat so if you wanted a sneak peek before the journey you should check them out! Username:serendipityqb
In each of these shops I found a dress which I adored but I’m obviously not going to go into the details of my dress, just yet! But I’ll do a seperate blog post on it at some stage. (I feel like it deserves its own post, lol) I LOVE IT!!
A few tips for the bride to be on dress shopping:
1. You have to love it
2. You have to love it
3. You have to love it
4. Don’t settle. DO.NOT.SETTLE
If you’ve any doubts, just walk away and revisit the shop again another day. Don’t jump the gun.
I’m told all the fun starts closer to the wedding, invites, RSVPS, table plans etc etc. Orgainsation and me don’t go together very well, so I’ll definitely be calling Louise in to sort my life out with all that wedding lark!
That’s all the updates. If anyone wants details on venders etc(I did a good bit of research) especially if you are struggling to find something/someone just Facebook or DM me on Instagram and I’ll try help! I don’t have my flowers booked or invitations ordered yet so I can’t give info on those ones, but everything else should be ok.
Until next time 🙂
Move over Penneys, Tesco clothing is quickly upping their game! I popped into Tesco the other day for a plastic hairband (don’t ask) and came out with a bag full of clothing. I couldn’t believe the amount of really fashionable clothes, mostly hitting the semi casual/workwear market.
Are you looking for jeans that don’t cost a fortune but rdon’t scrimp on quality? I got two pairs, I’m a 9 (awkward!) I got a size 8 in the khaki (a little tight but loosened with wear) and a size 10 blue ripped pair (on the loose side after a few wears, but super comfortable) so I would say the sizing is pretty true, but I always suggest trying things on, as you just never know. The jeans cost me €26 each and were definitely worth it, I will buy more f and f jeans as the ripped blue pair really remind me of a Topshop pair I already own – and that’s not a bad comparison!
I’m addicted to oversized comfortable jumpers (I’m wearing it above with the blue jeans) It’s definitely a comfort jumper, warm, cosy and oversized, it’s priced at €18. It has washed well so I’ve high hopes for longevity.
This Khaki shirt dress is perfect for work. It comes to just above the knee, has a draw string in the mid section to emphasis the waist, and gorgeous gold detailing. It’s €28.
By far my favourite purchase from Tesco clothing were these boots, they are a dark brown tan Chelsea boot, really versatile, they go with jeans, dresses, skirts. A great buy for €25. I haven’t taken them off my feet since I purchased and that’s a great sign.
There were so many other bits that stood out in Tesco, the blouses, shirts and workwear trousers looked fab and felt like good quality. I still love Penneys, don’t get me wrong, but paying an extra few euro for better quality in Tesco can sometimes be the better option, especially for workwear.
Hope you enjoyed this post, and that you will browse around the clothes section next time you’re in Tesco.

Communion and Confirmation Outfit Inspo
With communion and confirmation season almost upon us, we’ve picked some of our favourite high-street dresses that won’t be too hard on the bank, all dresses come in under €77.
There is plenty to consider, and plenty to stress about when it comes to suitable and appropriate attire for Communions and Confirmations. It’s not quite as dressy as a wedding, but far more dressy than a typical Sunday. You probably will want to cover up to some degree, not too much leg on show(or other body parts!), especially in the church. Budget and style are a priority in this column, so with all these factors in mind, we have put together a few Lookbooks to give you some inspiration.
Floral Warehouse Dress €64
If you’re like me, and favour comfort but enjoy style, this wrap dress from Warehouse could be the perfect option. A flattering shape, sleeves to cover the upper arms, and easy to wear i.e, sit down without sucking it in, and eat your dinner in peace without worrying about a food baby. Floral print is bang on trend at the moment too, perfect for this time of the year. The shoes and bag with the bow finish the look perfectly (both from House of Fraser).
Shop the dress by clicking here: https://goo.gl/peSVJ0
This hot pink jumpsuit from Warehouse has a stylish yet sophisticated vibe. Jumpsuits are huge this season and are very easy to wear. There is no need to be afraid of them! This jumpsuit is perfect if you are self conscious of your legs and/or want to accentuate your waist, it’s bow detail will nip you in and the slightly flared legs will create a lovely hour glass shape. We styled it with rose gold clutch and heels from ASOS for a glam finish, or for a more muted finish pair it with grey, also from ASOS. Shop jumpsuit here: https://goo.gl/N0NjBm
House of Fraser Grey Dress €65
This is the type of dress that I would stop someone to ask them where they got it. It is beautiful! The combination of grey and pink is so pretty, it would be sure to garner a lot of compliments. This midi body con dress will hug you in all the right places, but still be classy due to its length, shape and floral design (I’m not so sure you could eat a three course meal after mass in this one though!). We styled it with grey shoes and a pink bag, both from ASOS. Shop this dress here: http://goo.gl/HJIQU3
Purple Oasis Dress €71
This wiggle dress from Oasis is quite similar to the first, from warehouse. However, this dress is a block colour which can be worn with many different combinations of accessories. A Wiggle dress, unlike a wrap dress, has a small slit up the middle, this accentuates the legs, perfect for people who have an apple shape. It will drape over the mid section, discreetly cover up arms, but highlight those lovely legs! This purple colour goes with most complexions and hair shades, especially important in this sun starved country of ours. Styled here with rose gold shoes and bagfrom ASOS. Shop this dress here: https://goo.gl/lE4i4U
River Island Black dress. €45
Not everyone is into print, jumpsuits, loud colours, so with this in mind we styled this little black number. On trend bell sleeves, off the shoulder, knee length. A classically timeless dress that would won’t mind looking back on pictures in 15 years time! We styled it with two different pairs of shoes, one block sling back heel for comfort (House of Fraser), one sleek sandal (RI). The bag is from Ted Baker. Shop the dress here: https://goo.gl/qDArO2
We hope that provided some inspo for you Mammys, aunts, Godmothers, who find themselves in the midst of planning your little ones big day. The number one thing, no matter what the occasion, regardless of current trends, is that YOU are COMFORTABLE in what you are wearing. Although, that’s coming from me, where comfort is my number one priority in life. Did someone say tracksuit bottoms and hoody???
We hope you have a great day, no matter what you end up wearing, and create memories to last a lifetime.
Until next time,

Casual yet stylish; on trend fashion finds from V by Very @ Littlewoods IRL
The V by Very range from Littlewoods IRL is killing it this season! Gorgeous on trend pieces at a very reasonable price point. The quality of all the clothes I received are really good too, no sacrifices there.
Ourselves and Littlewoods Ireland collaborated on this project, concentrating on casual pieces for those casual days where we want to look stylish, but comfy.
As you all know by now, I’m as casual as they come. Jeans, tops, jumpers, pumps, runners and I’m sorted! I’m happiest when I’m kitted out in casual comfy clothing. So to be fair, this was a bit of a dream collaboration for me.
So, without any further chitter chatter these are the pieces I picked up, and LOVE. At the end of the post I’ll include one link that will bring you to a list of all the items featured here, it has the prices and availablity set out really clearly.
I’ve started with my favourite, a gorgeous little red floral Tea dress with frill Sleeves. It is so comfortable, it has a little elasticated waistband which gives a lovely shape, then it just skims nicely over the tummy and hips. It’s really light so perfect for this weather, or any holidays you might have planned. It has a full back so you can wear a proper bra or bikini with it. As mentioned on snapchat too, it has one small popper at the front which would be so handy for anyone breastfeeding. It is true to size and I’m 5ft 4.7 inches tall! It’s a little chesty but I’m quite ‘blessed’ in that area so it won’t look like that if you’ve a smaller chest than me 🙂
This tee and jean combo are both from the V by Very range. The top is an off white soft material with lace and sheer detail on the top. It is really light and perfect for those occasions that are dressy casual, the lace adds that little bit of extra detail to make it stand out. This top is true to size. The Jeans are Addison high rise jeans with two rips on the knees. The are jet black, not off black. They have a slightly frayed hem. The high waist on them makes them flattering, especially with my Apple shape. I would say the jeans are a small to true 8. If you are between a size 8 and 10 I recommend going a size up. These also come in a longer leg length. Here is the top up closer
My signature style next!
Next up is my usual jumper and jeans combo! The jumper is BRIGHT red and really striking. It is a good close knit with a tie up side (lets the breeze in when it’s hot out 😉) I got so many compliments on this jumper, the colour is just fab. I love the sleeve length too, you can pull it down to just before your knuckles which I really like #comfortfactor.
These jeans are currently my favourite jeans in my wardrobe. I just love the colour, fit and style. I’ve so many ripped pairs of blue jeans, I just wanted a super skinny pair of plain jeans, and these are perfect. They are a real bright blue, not the usual blue denim colour. The style is skinny and high waisted. I would say these are true to size it not a little bigger. If your a big 8 or a small 10, get the eight. The legs are long but I like this as I always turn my jeans up into a little cuff. Best of all, only €28!!
The shoes in this look are grey, gold and sturdy. These loafers come in different colours too.
That’s it, they are the casual pieces I picked from th V by Very range on Littlewoods Ireland website. As you can see from the photos I kept the auld hair and makeup pretty causal too, lol!

Keeping it Casual this summer with Littlewoods
Fun, Fresh and Super Affordable. For me this sums up the V by Very range from Littlewoods Ireland.
We are delighted to have collaborated with Littlewoods to show you our fav casual pieces for the summer from their current collection. This was no easy job, as I’m sure many of their regular customers know, they have such a beautiful collection that it made deciding on some favourites really difficult.
For me summer is all about maxi dresses, I feel the most comfortable in them and also find that they really suit my pear shape. However, I often struggle to find good quality ones that don’t cost an arm and a leg, the main problem being that the skirt part can be quite translucent. This couldn’t be further from the case with the Devore maxi dress, its really good quality and also currently on sale for €67! If you find the neckline a little low simply pop a little vest top underneath.
The second item I picked was this Coral Tunic blouse. To me the colour Coral just screams summer and I fell in love with the shape as I knew it would be flattering. Worn over jeans it is just ideal for anyone a little self conscious of their hips or thighs. I’ve worn with wedges or flat sandals for the perfect casual summer look.

Zara, River Island, Topshop…..Athlone Town Centre Has them all!!
Athlone Towncentre is my go to shopping centre, as well as being quite handy location wise it also has a great selection of shops including Zara, Topshop, River Island, TKmax and a newly opened Vila to name but a few.
Yesterday I headed down as I’m on the lookout for a wedding outfit (shameful I know when the weather is so nice) and decided to take some pics of some of my favourite pieces from around the centre.
Zara are going into sale tomorrow so if you’ve some time on your hands it could be worth popping over for a look.
These self – portrait look a like dresses are a bargain at only €20 in the sale
I adore TK maxx for haircare products, bags, shoes and home products.
Cosy up at your firepit with this pretty blanket
Lots of the pink version of the dress worn by Holly Willoughby available in store
I love a sale, especially when it’s online and I don’t have to trawl through rails and rails of untidy clothes hoping to come across bargain.
In collaboration with Littlewoods Ireland, I picked a few outfits from their ‘End of Season Sale’. Lots to choose from and plenty with 50% off! I went for dressy pieces as I have a few weddings coming up and I’ve way too much casual stuff already.
I’ll put the links to each outfit under each picture but I’ll also put them at the end so if you want to read the whole article you won’t have to keep clicking in and out (Id be thoughtful like that, lol!)
This is my fav! Total outfit costs €69.
This skirt is a really thick heavy material so it hides a multitude! I can see myself getting such wear out of this piece. I would say the sizing of this is small, I went for an 8 but if I was to order it again I’d get a 10, it’s a tad tight. It’s a really flattering length and sits high waisted on the hips.
This top is super cute, the bow detailing on the sleeve transforms it from a plain black top into something more special.
The shoes have cute bow details with pearls, it’s all about the small touches!
HERE is a link to everything in OUTFIT ONE
https://goo.gl/FsrjSC – total cost is €69
OUTFIT TWO – total €71.50
This is a definitely a wedding appropriate look. This is a dress that looks like a two piece. It’s so comfortable and really well cut. The skirt is a heavy material and skims nicely over the hip area. It has a nice swing to it, great for throwing shapes on the dance floor! The V neck is just right, not too low, not to high. The top has an overlay that is flattering, it gives the illusion of a smaller waist. Dress is true to size.
My shoes are the same as the previous outfit
Link to this dress and shoes here https://goo.gl/VTfzbS Total -€71.50
OUTFIT THREE – total €96.
This dress isn’t something that I wouldn’t usually go for, I’m not typically into this style neckline on myself but it really pleasantly surprised me! The sheer neck with embroidery is quite classy and the detailing on the back of the dress really won me over! This dress would be perfect for anyone conscious of the collarbone/rib area as it has good coverage. If you’re fuller chested it may be difficult to wear as a strapless bra is a must with it. This dress is true to size and very comfortable. Excellent quality material. My shoes are the same as the previous posts.

Punchestown Races: What I wore
Racing season has truly kicked off and I was delighted to attend my first Punchestown Races last Friday although the delight was slightly diminished after the second downpour of ice-cold rain, only for my tan I would have definitely been a shade of blue!
The skirt I wore caught my eye at Christmas and like most of my purchases I was buying it for no particular event only that I liked it! After seeing the beautiful headpiece from Aoife Harrison designs I knew they were a match made in heaven so I could finally take the tags off my skirt and get some wear out of it. The hat is such a stunning piece, it is also light .(this is more important than you think because many a hat has caused a headache)I picked up the top in Athlone town centre in the warehouse sale (warehouse do such great sales!). The neckpiece I’m sad to say isn’t mine, I borrowed it from a friend who bought it in zara last year, its a stunning piece and I’m hoping to pick up something similar myself.
Some of the piece I wore are still available and the rest I’ve tried to find a replica for, the links you will find below.
